Musculoskeletal and Spinal injuries

Lower back pain, mid back pain, neck pain, sciatica, knee, shoulder, hip, hand, ankle… the list goes on of the common musculoskeletal injuries our clients present with. Musculoskeletal simply refers to your muscles and your skeleton - therefore any injury or pain of these structures is our game. Physiotherapists are movement specialists and our clinicians are here not only to assess, diagnose and treat these injuries but also to uncover what predisposed you to these in the first place. This needs addressing to lower the likelihood of re-occurrence and ensure we get you back to what you love safely.

Our clinicians will take your through a comprehensive assessment to effectively diagnose your condition, educate you regarding this and develop a phased treatment plan.

Your treatment plan will involve manual therapies, graded exercise therapies, education and graduated return to duties and activities. Our facility is fully equipped with Pilates apparatus and functional training gym enabling our clinicians to administer a full reconditioning program when appropriate.

Orthopaedic rehabilitation

If you have undergone an orthopaedic surgery for example, total or partial hip replacement, total or partial knee replacement, knee reconstruction, ankle reconstruction, shoulder reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, microdisectomy, spinal fusion… the list goes on, it is a MUST to rehabilitate this injury. Whether obtained acutely with a direct incident on the sporting field, in an accident or if the surgery was a result of a long standing chronic issue, your body has adapted to its incapabilities and needs retraining, strengthening and stabilising.

This process involves a comprehensive assessment to understand your baseline flexibility, strength, stamina and stability, as well as discover your goals of treatment. From here your Physiotherapist will begin to work towards these goals utilising a combination of manual therapies, exercise based rehabilitation methods, motor relearning models and hard work. Rehabilitation can be a tedious process but your body will thank you greatly for it.

If you are being proactive and know you are soon to go for an orthopaedic surgery get in early and start a prehab (reconditioning prior to surgery) program as soon as possible. The more time you put in prior to your surgery the better/quicker you will recover.

Our clinicians are looking forward to helping you get back to the activities you love.

falls prevention

Ageing gracefully and falls prevention

Whether we want to admit it or not there are just some ailments that come hand in hand with ageing. Arthritis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, narrowing joint spaces, chondromalacia, narrowing foramen, canal stenosis, reduced balance and unsteadiness on your feet, reduced mobility and the odd joint replacement. The more laps around the sun we have had the more the body feels the effects of time and an abundant life lived. Don’t let the feeling of decline be one that stops you in your tracks.

‘If you don’t use it, you’ll lose it.’ Never were truer words spoken with reference to our body’s functions. Strength, mobility, balance and fitness are all essential body functions we can continually improve.

“You are only as old as your spinal column” Said Joseph Pilates. So hop to it and drop some years off that spine by moving it regularly with the right guidance from our Physiotherapists you will continue to down-dog your way around the sun many more times with a strong beat in your heart and spring in your step.
